Krionderis receives AFA Cadet of the Year Award

WESTMINSTER, MD Cadet First Lieutenant Nicholas Krionderis of the Civil Air Patrols Carroll Composite Squadron, was awarded the Air Force Associations Cadet of the Year award during a ceremony on May 24 at Westminster High School. The Air Force Association provides every CAP squadron with the award to be given to the most outstanding cadet based on each squadron commanders own criteria. J. Kevin McHale, Carroll squadron commander, selected Krionderis, 14, for this annual award because of his professional demeanor, attention to detail, excellent follow-up skills and his ability to lead by example. Krionderis, of Westminster, is a freshman at Westminster High School. He has been a member of the Carroll Composite Squadron for three years and currently serves as a flight commander. He is also a member of the squadron's ground team. Civil Air Patrol, the official U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, is a civilian, volunteer, nonprofit, service organization. CAP's cadet programs provide young men and women with a safe and motivating environment in which to grow and explore opportunities in the military and aviation industries. Cadets progress through a 16-step program of leadership and aerospace education. The Carroll Composite Squadron currently meets Tuesday evenings at Westminster High School in Westminster.
