WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Battery Warehouse in Westminster recently donated 28 twelve-volt batteries to the Civil Air Patrol.   The donated batteries, valued at approximately $700, will be used to power global positioning system (GPS) units that had been donated to CAP by the United Parcel Service.
First Lieutenant Kevin McHale, of the Carroll Composite Squadron, presented a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Bill Cave, owner of the Battery Warehouse, recognizing the generous corporate donation made to CAP. This presentation was made at the Battery Warehouse, located on Route 140 in Westminster.
The GPS units and batteries are currently being distributed to squadrons around Maryland to use as a training tool for cadets as part of their emergency services program.    The Carroll Composite Squadron of CAP has been instrumental in obtaining and distributing these units.
Civil Air Patrol, the official US Air Force Auxiliary, is a civilian, volunteer, nonprofit, service organization. Members perform more than 85 percent of inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue and Coordination Center. Volunteers also take a leading role in aerospace education and conduct one of America's finest youth programs through CAP Cadet Programs.
The Carroll Composite Squadron meets on Tuesday evenings at the US Army Reserve Center on Malcolm Drive in Westminster.   Prospective members are always welcome.   An open house will be held at the US Army Reserve Center on November 30 at 7:00 p.m. There will be displays and presentations about all aspects of the CAP program. The public is invited to attend. Additional information may be found at www.carrollcap.org.
