Posted October 25, 2002

On Saturday, October 19th, the Carroll Composite Squadron (http//carroll.mdwg.cap.gov) of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) aided in a fundraiser for Carroll Hospice. CAP and other volunteers put letters in envelopes to be mailed out to members of the community asking for donations for their organization. In all about 18,000 letters were mailed and it is expected to raise about $40,000.00.

Carroll Hospice is a non-profit organization founded in 1986, which provides affordable in home care to terminally ill patients in a dignified way. About $100,000 of donated funds per year help serve hospice patients, and since inception, Carroll Hospice has helped 3,500 patients. The hospice provides nursing support, social services, and assistance to the family of the patient so that the patient may remain in their home during their care. They also provide bereavement services to the family for 13 months after their loss. The Carroll Hospice offices are located in Westminster, and they plan to soon build an inpatient hospice facility. Carroll Hospice needs many volunteers for a variety of services such as fundraisers, direct care, and administration. For more information, the Carroll Hospice can be contacted at 410-871-8000.
