WESTMINSTER, MDMary Feik, aviation pioneer and Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing member, was a guest of the Westminster Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) during a program at the Carroll County Regional Airport. Members of the Carroll Composite Squadron joined the EAA for this event, along with EAA members from Frederick and Gettysburg. Feik, 82, spoke about her life and work in aviation mechanics. During the presentation, she spoke of her desire to encourage young people to pursue their dreams. Feik, a member of the Annapolis Composite Squadron, has a cadet achievement named after her. Cadets who earn the Feik achievement ribbon are promoted to the rank of cadet senior airman. During the event, Feik presented a certificate to two CAP cadets who have recently earned the Feik ribbon: cadet senior airmen Jon Koziar and Michael Schuster. Both cadets are members of the Carroll Composite Squadron. In addition to these two cadets, Feik met with all the cadets that attended the program, offering words of encouragement for the cadets to pursue their goals and dreams. In addition to Feiks presentation, the EAA has a number of aircraft on display for members to view. The Carroll Composite Squadron meets each Tuesday evening at the National Guard Armory on Hahn Road in Westminster. Prospective members are always welcome.
