Welcome to the Carroll Composite Squadron!
The Carroll Composite Squadron prides itself in our execution of Civil Air Patrol’s
three missions: Emergency Services, Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education,
which is evident by the Squadron recognition as Maryland Wing’s Squadron of the
Year for 2010.
As Emergency Services volunteers, Carroll Squadron’s personnel are highly
trained and ready to perform search and rescue, disaster relief, emergency
service, and homeland security missions for the state. For example, as part of the
Maryland Wing’s commitment to the state of Maryland, Carroll Squadron conducts
“Bay Patrols” over the Chesapeake Bay on assigned weekends from Memorial Day
through Labor Day, assisting boaters if needed. This is just one of the Squadron's
missions, there are others. Please look through our website for additional
information.
Carroll Squadron’s Cadet program focuses on leadership skills, aerospace
education, and physical fitness. The Cadets are able to participate in a number of
activities, both within the state and across the nation. For instance, the Maryland
Wing Powered Flight Solo School, the Aerospace Academy, the Cadet Survival
School, the Tri-Wing Encampment, and the National Honor Guard Academy are
just a few of the activities the Cadets can accomplish within the state. Outside the
state, the Cadets can participate in the National Flight Academy, Cadet Officer
School, International Air Cadet Exchange, and thirty other national cadet special
activities.
Aerospace Education is an integral part of Civil Air Patrol for both cadets and adult
members. Members learn about the history of flight and discuss the future of air
and space exploration. Cadets experience the thrill of flight through both powered
and glider orientation rides where their book-knowledge of aerodynamics is
demonstrated in the air.
As you are looking through our newly enhanced website, be aware that if you are
an adult looking for ways to serve your community or a parent looking to find
something that your child can direct their focus and energy on, there is something
for you here. Please stop by and visit us during the Squadron’s regular Tuesday
night meeting. All are welcome.
